შტაბების მეთაურთა გაერთიანებული კომიტეტის თავმჯდომარემ ადმირალმა მაიკ მალენმა ჩინეთში 4 დღიანი ვიზიტი დაიწყო. ის ქვეყნის ლიდერებსა და სამხედრო მარალჩინოსნებს შეხვდება. პეკინში პრესკონფერენციაზე მან დასძინა, რომ ჩინეთსა და შეერთებულ შტატებს შორის ურთიერთობებში კიდევ ბევრია გასაკეთებელი და მეტი შედეგებია მისაღები.

შეხვედრებისას ასევე განიხილება ჩრდილოეთ კორეასთან ბირთვული განაიარაღების პრობლემა, ტაივანის საკითხი, ამერიკა ჩინეთის ურთიერთობები და სხვა.

ადმირალ მალენი ასევე აპირებს ჩინეთის ორი სამხედრო ბაზის დათვალიერებას .

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, began a four-day visit to China Sunday for talks with top leaders and high-ranking military officials.

He told a news conference in Beijing that he could not think of any place where there is more to be done and more to be gained than between the U.S. and China.

Mullen said he will discuss stalled nuclear disarmament talks with North Korea, the Taiwan issue, U.S.-China relations, territorial disputes in the South China Sea and other matters.

The admiral is in China at the invitation of Army Chief of the General Staff Chen Bingde.

Mullen is also scheduled to visit two Chinese military bases this week.
